Any and every time, is the perfect time to recharge,
rejuvenate and motivate yourself and when we heard about the Virgin
Pulse Global
Challenge, the BUSINESS buddy
team were more than ready to put our best foot forward.
What is the Global Challenge?
During the past 15 years, the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge
has transformed the cultures of the world's leading organisations, improving
the health and performance of more than two million employees.
If it’s good enough for Sir Richard Branson, its good enough
for BUSINESS buddy.
For 100 days, hundreds of thousands of employees around the
world participate in the Global Challenge annually.
Participants embark on a virtual journey around the globe.
In teams of seven, employees track their daily activity through
a Max Buzz
device or similar activity tracker and work towards conquering at least 10,000
steps daily.
The BUSINESS buddy
dream team includes Kirsten Hawke, Deidre Morgan, Karen Burns, Dee Whelan, Amy
Posthuma, Jonathan Sturm and our ring-in, Jackie Russell.
Though the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge app, teams can see
how they rank other teams around the globe and individuals can monitor their
personal accomplishments.
The app encourages friendly competition, camaraderie and
real-time data comparisons.
The challenge has many similarities to using Xero to
monitor business performance.
The accounting software collects data that business owners
and managers can use to address issues and identify successes.
However, it can be easy to let things slide and not pay
enough attention to your Xero account, which means you don’t enjoy the maximum
bang for your buck.
Just like the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge – it can be the
support of a team or an independent person that makes a difference.
In business and everyday life, support from others makes you
accountable for reaching performance milestones.
Being part of a team is much like employing staff.
When you know your effort has an impact on others you are
much more likely to push yourself on those days when you would rather blob in
front of the Netflix or take a long lunch.
Through the Virgin Pulse Global Challenge, individuals become
more aware of their overall health and learn how their lifestyle
choices measure up.
As people feel the benefits of these simple changes, their
motivation increases.
A win-win for all involved.
